Otter with a Fish
Otters hold hands while they sleep so they don't drift apart. A soft reminder that you don't have to float alone.
What do you do when everything seems to be going wrong?
When life gets hard, it's tempting to react: to panic, to say things we don't mean, to make big decisions in a rush. But there is another way. Instead of reacting dramatically, we can choose to act, calmly and with purpose.
Here are three small steps that help me.
Before anything else, take a moment to pray. Put your worries into God's hands and ask for the strength and clarity you need.
Breathe slowly. Give yourself time before you speak or decide anything. A calm heart sees much more clearly than a frightened one.
Look at the problem one piece at a time. What is one small thing you can do today? Small steps still move you forward.
A little something to hold on to
In difficult moments, some people find it helps to have a small comfort object: something soft you can hold or see, that reminds you to breathe and keep going. A handmade gift can be that little reminder.
But it's only an extra. The most important thing is that you stay calm and find a solution, with the strength that comes from prayer. God will show you a way. And even if the way isn't clear yet, you still have the strength to face what's in front of you.
